She believed she could, so she did

Updated: Feb 25

‘She believed she could, so she did’ is an expression used time and time again by so many and derives from the ability to believe in one’s self, Self-belief.

Self-belief is not something we can purchase, we can fake, or we can be taught but comes from within. Yes, there are those who believe you can fake it until you make it, but real self-belief is consistent and what defines you.

Right now, self-doubt is extremely high, there is a lot of uncertainty around the world so how do we eradicate these doubts and continue to believe in ourselves even during our darkest moments? The answer is simply, you do. What I have discovered over many years is that self-belief must come from you. Have I struggled with doubts? Yes, of course, I am human but what I have also learnt is that my thoughts have an impact on my ability to achieve something. If you believe that you have lost before you have even started, then you are never going to win. Do I get scared? Yes, but the outcome of what I am going to achieve must be greater than the fear holding me back. That is self-belief.

Believing in your own capabilities regardless of your surroundings, your own doubts and the noise and negativity from outside sources.

Most of the time our doubts come from outside sources when we seek advice or validation from others. You need to be prepared for others to disagree with you but still believe in what you want to achieve. If you want someone else’s opinion, then you need to be prepared to not hear what you like or potentially giving you an alternative way of thinking. Many of my wonderful friends have different points of view and that is what makes them great. You just must understand and feel what is best for you.

When I first set up my online business I did so because I believed in something. Something that was incredibly special to me. Despite the many setbacks, the late nights, a world pandemic I managed to achieve it.

I Believed I could so I did.

It has not been easy, and I am at the early stages of my business, but I took the first step towards what I wanted to achieve. You can be introverted and still have self-belief, you can be shy, be loud and you can be indifferent to others but still have self-belief.

First you must believe to achieve.

“With realization of one’s own potential and self-confidence in one’s ability, one can build a better world.” Dalai Lama

That is the beauty in Self belief it requires no validation, no subscription or purchase, it simply requires your ability to believe in you.
